Author “Anything you want” Derek Sivers said in his book, “Trust, but verify. Remember it when delegating. You have to do both.”
I wish I knew this sooner… because I had learned the very same lesson through my own experience.
I also add more along this notion: Trust, but verify. Especially when you start a new position and with a new person introducing you to the job.
Ask more questions and think through before you take this new person’s suggestion. Ask why, what, how etc., before you follow an action.
Trust, but verify – for better.
